Eskom granted 13,3% tariff hike

Eskom was granted a 13,3% increase by the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) on Wednesday.

This is in addition to the 14,2% increase already granted in December.

The decision by the Nersa subcommittee came after Eskom requested a 53% tariff increase at public hearings last month.

Nersa’s six-member subcommittee had to take into account more than 40 oral and 300 written submissions it had received at the hearings before making a decision.—Sapa
