The Emerging Springboks are wary of a British and Irish Lions backlash after their first Test defeat but the South African youngsters are aiming to be competitive at Newlands in Cape Town on Tuesday.

The Emerging Boks, coached by Dick Muir, will be captained by Blue Bulls flanker Dewald Potgieter and features a number of players with Super 14 experience, not least exciting Bulls full-back Zane Kirchner.

“We are blessed with the amount of depth we have in South African rugby and the group of players assembled here proves that,” said Muir.

“We are wary of the fact that the British and Irish Lions will be looking to bounce back after their defeat in the first Test, but I’m confident that we’ll be competitive against them on Tuesday evening.”
