Two miners killed in rockfall at Target mine

Harmony Gold confirmed on Monday that two employees had been killed in a rockfall at its Target Mine in the Free State.

At this stage it was not know how many other workers had been affected by the accident, it said.

Two other workers sustained minor injuries and were rescued.

“Rescue operations are under way with four proto-teams at the scene, who are working hard to bring the trapped employees to the surface safely. The company’s primary concern is for the safety of its employees. No further information is available at this stage,” the mining group said.—I-Net Bridge, Sapa
