Petrol price to rise

The retail price of petrol will increase by 18 cents a litre on February 3, the Department of Energy announced on Friday.

Diesel prices will also increase, with 0,05% sulphur and 0,005% sulphur both up 10 cents per litre (c/l).

Wholesale paraffin lifts by 5c/l and illuminating paraffin by 6c/l.

During the period under review, the average international product prices of petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin increased.

The average rand/US dollar exchange rate strengthened when compared with the previous period. The average exchange rate for the period December 31 2009 to January 28 2010 was 7,4735 compared with 7,5236 during the previous period.—I-Net Bridge
