Pienaar nabbed for drunken driving

Bafana Bafana star Steven Pienaar has been charged with drunken driving after a night out to celebrate Everton’s 3-1 win over Manchester United at the weekend, police said on Tuesday.

The Everton midfielder was arrested in the early hours of Sunday morning and charged later that day. He faces a fine and a ban from driving if convicted at a court hearing scheduled for March 9.

A police spokesperson said that Pienaar, 27, had been charged with “drink driving and failure to comply with a traffic sign”.

Pienaar was part of the Everton team that shocked United with a 3-1 win at Goodison Park on Saturday.—AFP
