A body believed to be that of businessman Rob Taylor, who gave a R2-million Audi to a group of car guards, was found in Cape Town on Table Mountain, police said on Monday.

“We cannot confirm if [it] is Rob Taylor until the body has been identified. His girlfriend is being interviewed by detectives.

She is expected to identify the body later today [Monday],” said Captain Ezra October.

On Sunday around 8.17pm police received a call from search and rescue workers saying there was a body below the Table Mountain cable car.

“I cannot confirm at this stage that he committed suicide. No note was found. All he had on him was a credit card. That is all we were working on.”

Taylor, a well known Howick property developer, made headlines in January 2010 when he gave eight car guards at the cable station a brand new Audi R8 5.2 worth over R2-million and R20 000 in cash.—Sapa
