SA's April vehicle sales up 8%

New vehicle sales rose by 8% year-on-year in April to 38 566 units, the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers said on Wednesday.

South Africa’s new vehicle sales rose by 8% year-on-year in April to 38 566 units, the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers (Naamsa) said on Wednesday.

When sales from Associated Motor Holdings and Amalgamated Automobile Distributors—which report separately—are stripped out, sales increased by 11,7% to 33 964 vehicles compared with April last year, Naamsa said.

Naamsa said the number of cars sold was affected by the high number of public holidays in April.—Reuters
