Cape music pick: October 14 2011

Koos Kombuis is back, in a more 'spiritual' guise.

“People always ask me: ‘What do you actually believe in?’ So it was surely just a question of time before I tried to answer this complicated question through my songs,” says Koos Kombuis.

It turns out the legendary Afrikaans folk-rock troubadour has penned a handful of new songs that each have a “spiritual” theme to them.

But relax. The alternative Afrikaans icon has not suddenly gone gospel. He simply hopes his new songs about the meaning of life might mean something to someone, somewhere.

Die Boer, 6 Chenoweth Street, Durbanville. October 14 at 8pm. Entrance is R100 and booking is recommended. Tel: 021 979 19 11.
