The Egoli Heritage Foundation celebrates Johannesburg's 125th anniversary with a symposium and weekend of tours in an around the city.

The Egoli Heritage Foundation celebrates Johannesburg’s 125th anniversary with a symposium and weekend of tours in an around the city.

The symposium happened on Thursday October 13, but the walking tours occur throughout the weekend beginning at the Sunnyside Park Hotel.

On October 15, meet at the hotel and journey to Chancellor House, Anglo’s Art Deco offices on Main Street, Turbine Hall and the Rand Club. Speakers include Luli Callinicos and Gerald Garner. On October 15, meet at the hotel at 9am and journey to Vilakazi Street, Credo Mutwa Village and surrounds in Soweto. In the afternoon, visit the Constitutional Court. Speakers include Phil Bonner and Stephen Hobbs. On October 16, there are tours of Parktown and ­Kensington.
