Cape drama pick: November 25 2011

The Mousetrap, Agatha Christie's classic whodunit and the world's longestrunning play, comes to a local stage.

Since 1952, The Mousetrap, Agatha Christie’s classic whodunit and the world’s longestrunning play (they have even had to re-upholster the couch in the London production), has entertained an estimated 10‑million people.

This year, just before the play’s 60th anniversary, Pieter Toerien returns to the Christmas Christie tradition with a stellar all-South African cast.

A snowbound group of visitors is trapped in a guesthouse with a murderer in their midst. He has already killed, and then strikes again. The tension is razor-sharp: everyone is under suspicion, everyone a potential victim. One by one the suspicious characters reveal their sordid pasts. But who will be next, and who is the killer?

Theatre on the Bay, Camps Bay, until January 14. Book at Computicket. Tel: 021 438 3301. Website: www.theatreonthebay.co.za.
