Nersa postpones energy regulator public hearings

Nersa has postponed its public hearings on raised tariffs and price determination, pending the finalisation of its electricity pricing policy.

The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (Nersa) has postponed the public hearings on the review of the inclining block tariffs and the multi-year price determination (MYPD) methodology.

In a statement on Tuesday, Nersa said the hearings had been scheduled to take place on February 2 and February 3 2012, at its offices in Pretoria.

The hearings, however, have been postponed until the finalisation of the review of the 2008 industry electricity pricing policy.

“The MYPD is broadly informed by the electricity pricing policy. It would therefore be premature to finalise the MYPD while the electricity pricing policy is under review,” Nersa added.

Members of the public will be notified of the new dates for the public hearings through the Nersa website and newspaper publications.—I-Net Bridge
