The affidavit, written by Human Settlements Minister Tokyo Sexwale, was intended for public protector Thuli Madonsela, the Star reported on Wednesday.

In it Madonsela is asked to investigate an alleged plot by ANC leaders to unseat President Jacob Zuma.

“Mdluli occupies a very sensitive position in society and within the state,” Sexwale reportedly states in the affidavit.

“An abuse of his position has serious implications for the country and citizens. It also constitutes a serious conflation of state and party.”

Muzi Sikhakhane is both Mdluli and Sexwale’s lawyer. His Northcliff house was broken into three weeks ago. At the time he said he suspected foul play.

“What they did is to open my drawers for documents, all my drawers in both my bedroom and my study. It’s clear to me it’s people who have not come to steal. They have come either to see me or do something to me. It’s too early for me to know exactly in what direction that foul play is,” Sikhakhane said.

Two cars and two television sets were stolen. The cars were later found abandoned in Mamelodi, near Pretoria.

Mdluli was reinstated in his position earlier this year after fraud, corruption and murder charges against him were dropped.

“There is a reasonable suspicion that Mdluli, in his capacity as head of crime intelligence, may continue to abuse his power since he has been reinstated back to his job after his suspension,” Sexwale reportedly says said in the affidavit. — Sapa
