Join us as we look at police commissioner Riah Phiyega's testimony at the Farlam commission of inquiry into the Marikana massacre.
Phiyega took the stand this week at the Farlam commission on the killings at Marikana, but if anyone was hoping to get a clear answer on who gave the go-ahead to open fire on the striking miners at Lonmin last August, they were disappointed.
Phiyega was composed but evasive, hedging her responses and talking in circles. At one point commission chairperson Ian Farlam said Phiyega was making a “deliberate attempt not to answer a question”.
Join us as we speak to reporter Kwanele Sosibo, who has been covering the story in Rustenberg where the inquiry is being heard, to discuss what Phiyega told the commission and what she omitted.
