Local comedy icons Kagiso Lediga and David Kau will attend the festival with producers Isaac Mogajane and John Volmik, debuting Blitz Patrollie on a global scale. The team leaves for Cannes on  May 15.

One of international film’s chief events, the festival is attended by the world’s A-list movie stars and is the event of choice for the industry’s finest to premiere new films that push boundaries and advance the medium.

Blitz Patrollie, written by Lediga, chronicles the adventures of two police officers who have had the misfortune of being stationed at the “Central” Police Station,  the most chaotic police precinct in Johannesburg.

The pair accidentally stumble upon a massive drug haul and what ensues is a madcap escapade as the duo encounter some of the city's craftiest crooks.

The film stars Kau, Joey Rasdien, Chris Forrest, David Kibuuka and South African comedy pioneer Mel Miller.

Blitz Patrollie releases at cinemas nationwide on May 10, with premieres in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban preceding the film’s release.
