A fifth man was arrested on Friday for the murder of two toddlers in Diepsloot, Gauteng police said on Friday.

"He was arrested in Alexandra this morning [Friday]," said spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini.

The man had been on the run since the discovery of the toddlers in a toilet cubicle on Tuesday.

He would face two charges of murder, rape and kidnapping.

The 29-year-old would appear in the Pretoria Magistrate's court on Monday, Dlamini said.

Information leading to his arrest
On Thursday, police released his identikit to the public and offered a R100 000 reward for information that would lead to his arrest and successful prosecution.

Four men are expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Friday on charges of rape and murder.

The bodies of two-year-old Yonelisa Mali and her cousin Zandile Mali (3) were found around 5am on Tuesday.

They were reported missing at the weekend. – Sapa
