Q&A with Lorna Lukhele

Q&a With Lorna Lukhele

What are your favourite fashion and beauty buys?

I love jewellery, shoes, handbags, eye shadow and lipsticks – one can never have enough of these.

How do you indulge in "me-time"?

I love getting the full beauty salon treatment from head to toe, including a body massage.  If it’s at a five-star hotel, all the better. And a bit of room service and watching TV never hurt anybody.

How do you keep your skin looking so good?

I get in a lot of gym time.  Breaking out into a sweat, helps cleanse the pores.  I also give my skin a regular time out from all the make-up.

What’s on TV when Lorna's got the remote?

I love reality TV.  I’m a fan of The Real Housewives of Atlanta and because I’m an entrepreneur, I also enjoy watching Secret Millionaire and The Apprentice.

What’s your summer fashion advice?

Keep it cute, light and comfy.

What inspires your style?

I draw fashion inspiration from everywhere and go for things that will look good on me.  From those Kim Kardashian figure-huggers to simple tracks and hoodies, I make every outfit my own.

What music do you enjoy listening to?

I listen to hip hop, pop and rock.  I love John Mayer, Coldplay and Prime Circle.

What’s the best way to settle the nerves before a dance performance or photo shoot?

You have to believe in yourself and know what you want out of life.  I live by the quote: "Dissatisfaction and discouragement are not caused by the absence of things but the absence of vision." – Anonymous

Cooking or eating out?

Soulful cooking is the way to go.  I love feeding and entertaining guests, and experimenting with new recipes and ingredients.  It’s a great feeling knowing you’ve filled someone’s tummy.

What’s a quick and easy meal for you to whip up?

Grilled chicken – sweet and sour or lemon and herb.

How do you stay grounded and motivated to succeed?

I am a Christian and have great mentors like my pastor, Andre Olivier.  I surround myself with people who add value to my life.  It also helps that I have a keen entrepreneurial spirit and a drive to succeed.

What are the struggles of running your own PR and Events business?

Being a female in the business world is difficult.  You don’t want to show your vulnerability and you always want to conduct your business above board. But I am passionate about my business and don’t give up easily.
