Benni Mccarthy Targeted During Robbery

Former Bafana Bafana player Benni McCarthy had just arrived from OR Tambo International Airport to do television work for SuperSport.

A witness told Soccer Laduma that there were about nine people in the shop when three robbers entered.

The witness said that the people were prepared to hand over their wallets and their watches to them, but the robbers said they didn’t want anything from them as they only wanted McCarthy’s stuff. He said it seemed as if the robbery had been well-planned.

Gauteng police have confirmed that McCarthy was robbed of several belongings, including a diamond earring.

“It is alleged that he had just came back from the airport and was at the barbershop [at around 1pm]. Three suspects, one armed with a firearm held all patrons at gunpoint,” spokesperson Katlego Mogale said.

“The one with the firearm went to the victim and stole his wrist watch, wedding ring and diamond earring. The suspects then fled in a black BMW with unknown registration. A case of armed robbery has been opened for investigation.”

No shots were fired and no one was injured in the incident. –  News24
