The father of an alleged associate of Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir has died after being tortured, the Citizen reported on Friday.

Forensic investigator Chad Thomas told the paper that Miso Mihaljevic, the father of Sandton Gold and Diamond Exchange's Djordje Mihaljevic, was pulled over and kidnapped in Johannesburg as he drove home last Friday.

Djordje Mihaljevic is also a friend of convicted drug dealer Glenn Agliotti.

"During [Miso Mihaljevic's] subsequent torture his pelvis and his leg were broken with hammers," Thomas was quoted as saying.

"He somehow landed up at a hospital but died following complications on Christmas Eve. He apparently suffered a stroke before dying of a heart attack."

His son was understood to be out of the country and unreachable on his phone.

Police told the Citizen they were unaware of the case.

Meanwhile, Krejcir remains in hospital under police guard, apparently for treatment to avoid renal failure. He and three others was arrested in November for allegedly kidnapping and assaulting a man following a failed drug deal. – Sapa
