Music: Lark
When versatile vocalist Inge Beckmann first launched her alt-electro glitch-opera project Lark almost a decade ago, the scene took notice.
Scathing yet meek, furious and thoughtful, reckless and careful, intimate and grandiose, brave but frightened, Lark sounded like something you had never heard before, but you already knew by heart. With nods to everything from Kate Bush and Björk to electro-pioneers Aphex Twin and Brian Eno, they enthralled. Now, 10 years and countless side-projects later, the diva of dark and her glam-electronica cohorts Simon “Fuzzy” Ratcliffe, Paul Ressel and Sean Ou Tim are back with a new album. Vicious in its elegance, erratic in its precision, uncompromising in its experimentation, Gong Is Struck promises to be the edgiest Lark release yet. Get ready to be assaulted and seduced when the fearsome four kick off their national tour in Cape Town.
