Gig: Mark de Clive-Lowe
When Los Angeles-based producer, DJ and jazz pianist Mark de Clive-Lowe settled in London in the late 1990s, he caught the broken- beat scene at its infancy.
For more than a decade, his style evaded the constraining pigeonholes of genre, serving up future-forward slices of contemporary soul, electric jazz, sci-fi Afrobeat and funk-laced hip-hop. The DJ relocated to Los Angeles four years ago, where he rediscovered jazz piano. For his first South African tour, he teams up with Avant Garde Vintage Lounge for a series of dates.
