Theatre: The Sewing Machine

Cape Town

The Sewing Machine, the English version, translated by Leon de Kock, of Rachelle Greeff's Afrikaans hit one-woman play Die Naaimasjien, returns after an award-winning overseas tour.

The 82-year-old Magdaleen (Sandra Prinsloo) sits in an old-age home preparing to say goodbye to her sewing machine, her constant companion for more than 55 years. She polishes the beloved Bernina as she recounts the story of her life. Directed by Hennie van Greunen.
