Sylvaine Strike’s Fortune Cookie Theatre Company specialises in physical performance with an archaic European touch — think of Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge! or the movies of Jean-Pierre Jeunet. In partnership with the French-South Africa Seasons, the company presents a contemporary interpretation of Molière’s timeless classic The Miser, written in 1668. It is described as a “deliciously mean comedy” and “magnifies the madness of a father’s greed, paranoia and suspicion”. With Lionel Newton, Mpho Osei-Tutu, Atandwa Kani and Kate Liquorish.
