Like his hero, the late Bheki Mseleku, Mkhize’s sound has its roots in African township music, church music and boppish city-street jazz. To this he adds a contemporary spin. This weekend he plays alongside fellow Young Artist award winners, drummer Kesivan Naidoo and talented bassist Shane Cooper, and saxophonist Nhlanhla Daniel Mahlangu. The Bokani Dyer Trio shares the bill.
