Photography: Building Bridges

Durban

Bridges is the title of a profound photographic and spiritual voyage of discovery shared by two very different lensmen.

The exhibition celebrates the 15-year-old collaboration between documentary photographers Andrew Tshabangu from South Africa and René-Paul Savignan from Réunion. The focal point of the work — all in black and white — is the spiritual and religious practices in both countries. On Réunion, Savig

nan investigates the complex range of religious beliefs found among the nation’s ethnically diverse population. Tshabangu’s focus in South Africa has been on the many ways in which Christianity is interpreted and experienced by Africans.
