The president's spokesperson Mac Maharaj said on Wednesday the talks would be managed by the Southern African Development Community (SADC) troika for politics, defence and security by member states Zambia, Tanzania, and troika chair South Africa.

In early June, the SADC Summit in Angola asked the troika to call an urgent meeting between Malagasy leader Marc Ravalomanana and Madagascan High Transitional Authority President, Andry Rajoelina.

This was to discuss the implementation of a path forward after 10 of the 11 Malagasy groups signed an agreement in September last year.

Zuma is accompanied by State Security Minister Siyabonga Cwele and Deputy International Relations Minister Marius Fransman, who is Zuma's special envoy on Madagascar issues, Maharaj said. – Sapa
