Police arrested controversial Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir on charges of attempted murder and kidnapping on Friday afternoon, Eyewitness News reported.

National police commissioner Riah Phiyega's spokesperson Solomon Makgale said that police will hold a press conference at 12pm on Saturday to discuss Krejcir’s arrest.

"I can confirm that Krejcir was arrested after 6pm at his house in Gauteng," said Makgale. "He was arrested on charges of attempted murder and kidnapping."

It was not clear what incident this warrant was issued in connection with.

Krejcir's could not be reached for comment. His lawyer said he doesn't know which division of the police arrested his client.

Killings
Krejcir recently denied any involvement in a string of killings of friends and associates since he moved to South Africa in 2007.

The latest killing included an explosion at his Money Point store in Bedfordview that killed two of his close friends including another Czech fugitive Jan "John" Charvat,.

Krejcir said he did not know who was behind the most recent attempt on his life, but was co-operating fully with police. – Additional reporting by Sapa
