Krejcir bail application continues

Krejcir Bail Application Continues

The bail application by Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir and his three co-accused will resume in the Palm Ridge Regional Court on Wednesday.

During their last appearance, prosecutor Louis Mashiane submitted that Krejcir, Desai Luphondo and two Hawks members Samuel Modise Maropeng and George Jeff Nthoroane, were involved in the kidnapping and assault of a man whose brother was recruited to smuggle drugs through OR Tambo International Airport to Australia.

The alleged smuggler, known as Doctor, worked at the airport.

He disappeared after handing airport clearance receipts to Luphondo but the consignment did not reach Australia.

Doctor's brother, who is the complainant in the case, claimed he was kidnapped and assaulted at the premises of Krejcir's company, Money Point, in the East Rand's Bedfordview, for more than four days.

Missing drugs
It was alleged that Krejcir demanded that he find Doctor or that he pay Krejcir R24-million for the missing drugs.

The man was left in Thokoza on the East Rand, after having been severely assaulted, Mashiane said.

The state opposed bail, saying Krejcir was a flight risk, and all the accused posed a danger to witnesses as they knew where they and their relatives lived. – Sapa
