Midweek Premier League action

THURSDAY, 12.30PM:

WITS University beat Hellenic 2-0 at Milpark Stadium in a Premier Soccer League match on Wednesday night. Nicky Shaw and Gary McNab scored for “The Students”.

It was Shaw who opened the score in the seventh minute when he connected a Gordon Ewen cross to fire a powerful shot past goalkeeper John Dithebe. McNab made it 2-0 after he received a ball on the halfway line, beat defenders, spotted Dithebe off his line and fired a shot straight to the top right corner of the net.

Manning Rangers hammered newly promoted Lightbody Santos 3-0 in front of their home crowd at Athlone Stadium in Cape Town on Wednesday night. Kerryn Jordan scored a brace and Solo Ndimande sealed victory for the “Mighty Maulers”.

Jomo Cosmos and Real Rovers played to a goalless draw at Pam Brink Stadium. Watched by no more than 1 000 spectators, Cosmos attacked from all angles but Rovers goalkeeper Samuel Banda denied them goals.
