FINANCIAL services powerhouse Old Mutual Plc, which listed in London in July won a place in London’s FTSE-100 share index on Wednesday. Old Mutual, which will rank 71st on the FTSE, now joins other South African heavyweights Billiton, South African Breweries and Anglo American, in the index. The changes, announced following a meeting of the FTSE International’s equity indices committee, will take effect from September 20. Securing a place in the blue chip index of Britain’s top 100 companies brings with it a higher profile and demand from index tracking funds.
