Would-be family murderer dies in hospital

A Cape Town man who shot dead his nine-year-old daughter and wounded his wife before shooting himself, died at the Groote Schuur hospital on Monday night. Hospital spokesperson Leigh Pollio said on Tuesday that Peter Prinsloo (59) died at 7.40pm.

Prinsloo was airlifted to the hospital from the False Bay hospital, after the incident in Ocean View near Simon’s Town around midday on Monday. Police spokesperson inspector Elliot Sinyangana said on Monday that Prinsloo first shot his daughter Bianca in the head and then shot his wife, Joanne (39).

”He then put the pistol in his mouth and pulled the trigger,” Sinyangana said.

Joanne Prinsloo was treated for a leg wound and discharged from hospital. – Sapa
