As part of its season of New Stages 2011, the Playhouse Company presents For Generations, Kurt Engelhof’s highly acclaimed one-man show.
The gripping meta-biographical tale is told from the perspectives of the author’s grandfather and father; Engelhof takes up the cudgels for his generation before moving into the future as his son. Through the narrative emerge Engelhof’s war-hero grandfather Sonny and his Xhosa bride Violet, his father Basil who worked too hard in the whaling station on the Bluff and his mother Marjorie Lucas; himself, Kurt the actor-director; and his sports-obsessed adolescent son Aston.
