Durban theatre pick: November 11 2011

Journeying Home is a new drama written and directed by Verne Rowin Munsamy.

It grapples with the issues of place and identity and how, despite the peripatetic nature of the flesh, the soul can remain rooted to a spot. Starring Lauren Jones, Tumelo Khoza, Devaksha Moodley, Tamika Sewnarain, Christopher Tobo and Julia Wilson, the narrative takes the form of excerpts from the diary of an unseen narrator who encounters six remarkably different individuals who are all, each for their own revealing reason, journeying home to South Africa.

Square Space Theatre, University of KwaZulu-Natal, November 16 to 27. Shows take place each week on Wednesday to Saturday at 7pm with a Sunday matinee at 3pm on November 27. Tickets are R50 and R30 students and pensioners. Tel 083 7636 292.
