The Free State ANC says no more free lunches and T-shirts may not be printed unnecessarily.
The Free State ANC says no more free lunches and T-shirts may not be printed unnecessarily.

"The African National Congress will enforce strict fiscal discipline in all government structures under its leadership," said provincial secretary William Bulwane said.

He was commenting on a recent auditor general report on Free State municipalities.

"We accept the report of the auditor general. We are concerned by the continued poor performance shown by some municipalities."

Bulwane said the provincial ANC leadership agreed there had to be serious changes to improve the situation.

He said the ANC provincial executive committee (PEC) expected clean audits from all district municipalities in the next financial year.

"The mayors of those municipalities will be made to sign performance agreements to that effect."

Bulwane said those mayors would be held to their agreements. There would also be changes to local municipalities in line with the PEC's decisions to improve service delivery.

Bulwane did not expand on the changes, but indicated they would be introduced immediately after they were finalised.
