Goolam Vahed is an Associate Professor in the department of History at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. He did his undergraduate studies at the University of Durban-Westville and received his Ph.D from Indiana University, Bloomington. His research focuses on race and ethnic identity, and the role of sport and culture in South African society. He co-edited Chatsworth. The Making of a South African township (UKZN Press) in 2013 with Ashwin Desai.
