Getting dirty with Converse

By Demelza Bush and Haji Mohamed Dawjee

Inspired by the Converse seasonal brand expression "Shoes keep it clean, sneakers get dirty", Converse South Africa hosted the Get Dirty party on Saturday at Mary Fitzgerald Square in Newtown, Johannesburg.

The square was transformed into a giant playground for adults, complete with bumper cars, swings and a chill area with Converse pool tables. The popular sneaker brand cleverly set up a pop up Converse store with a wide selection of its merchandise available. With the amount of drunken purchases I saw taking place – including my own – I'm pretty sure Converse made a killing.

The lineup was also pretty sweet, with three stages hosting the likes of Jeremy Loops, Matthew Mole, the Blk Jks, Shadow Club and many more. The Get Dirty party was the first of its kind in the country, but judging by the responses it got on social media, it definitely should not be the last.

Here's a selection at some of the best shots from the night.
