Festival: Music in the city

Jo'burg's Mary Fitzgerald Square gets converted into a one-day festival for Vodacom in the City.

Vodacom In The City features an edgy line-up that includes international acts alt-J, Boys Noize, The Hives and Skunk Anansie.

By popular demand, and 18 000 votes, the opening act is Cape Town-based Al Bairre (pictured), a five-piece symphonic indie rock band that combines drums, violins, ukeleles, cello and guitars into one sound.

If you are over 18 and love powerful rock and electronic dance music then this one’s for you. Food stalls and bars will be open all night long.
