BACKGROUND INFORMATION: The Ministry of Health (MoH) owns and controls a stock
of 1National Referral hospital, 5 regional hospitals, 2 specialized hospitals, 5 health centres, 6 public health units and approximately 80 clinics. These health facilities are equipped with a range of medical equipment and instruments and provides for a capacity of over 1700 beds. The maintenance of public buildings including health facilities is currently the responsibility of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOW) and the maintenance of medical and other equipment is the responsibility of the Bio-Medical Engineering Unit (B-MEU) of the MOH. The MoH owned facility has been increasing over the years with support from Development Partners and direct expansionary policies. In the same regard infrastructure investment is being extended by the Ministry of Health as construction of a referral hospital and a number of clinics are being planned for the future.

OBJECTIVE: The objectives of this consultancy are to:

• Review maintenance procedures and practices in the public sector that directly impact on health infrastructure. 

• Analyse the institutional capacities and resource requirements for undertaking effective maintenance of health facilities

The Ministry of Health now invites eligible consulting firms to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested consultancy firms must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.).


1. Evidence of having carried out similar feasibility study to identify options for Maintenance of Health Facilities & Medical Equipment 

2. Evidence of having carried out similar feasibility study to identify options for Maintenance of Health Facilities & Medical Equipment in similar conditions 

3. Availability of skills in Maintenance of Health Facilities & Medical Equipment among staff.
