Both the KwaZulu-Natal Dolphins and the Free State Eagles remain winless in the Standard Bank Cup as rain hit Bloemfontein, marring their bottom of the log clash on Wednesday. The Dolphins have once again been hit hard by inclement weather with this, their fourth match to be declared a no-result, and their fifth dogged by rain.

Great Britain comprehensively outplayed an inexperienced South African side in the second and final men’s hockey international played at the Hartleyvale Stadium in Cape Town on Thursday. Although the hosts showed more patience in the second half, they were outplayed by their more disciplined opponents.

Another journalist and a senior media executive have been arrested in Zimbabwe. Raphael Khumalo, general manager of the privately owned Zimbabwe Independent, and reporter Itai Dzamara were arrested on Wednesday, Linda Cook, Khumalo’s lawyer, told the Mail & Guardian Online.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the discovery of an unauthorised internet copy of the film The Last Samurai on Tuesday, a day after announcing a probe into an unauthorised copy of Something’s Gotta Give.

The African National Congress leadership in the Western Cape said on Wednesday it is aiming for a 51% majority in the forthcoming election, irrespective of a coalition agreement between itself and the New National Party.
