Manyi's comments on racism, economic transformation and e-tolling have seen the cantankerous spokesperson at loggerheads with the media and ministers – with him often claiming to be the victim of a conspiracy.
Last week, Manyi claimed to be the victim of a Mail & Guardian conspiracy over an article about his failed restructuring plans for government communications.
In a statement, Manyi was described as "pointing out that it was very clear, reading from some of the questions, that the thesis of the smear campaign is that Manyi disrespects authority; an insinuation which is not only malicious nor devoid of any substance but artificially created to feed the story line."
