Former Miss SA finalist on drug charges

A former Miss South Africa finalist and her husband are due in court in Welkom on Monday on drug charges, reported Die Volksblad on Monday.

Taryn Thompson — who was also Miss Goldfield in 1999 — and her husband, Bruce Dallas, were allegedly caught at Thompson’s parents’ home with drugs and ingredients to make drugs.

Police spokesperson William Mokoena said it could not stated with certainty that the seized substances were drugs and that they would be tested.

A team of forensic specialists from Gauteng searched the house on Saturday morning.

The police were called to the house where Thompson, her husband and two children live with their parents on Friday, after receiving reports of family violence.

Accusations were bandied back and forth, after which information on drugs was apparently conveyed to the police. The organised crime unit arrested Dallas on Friday afternoon.

After further investigation, Thompson was taken into custody on Saturday morning. – Sapa
