Jeppe massacre accused to know fate on Tuesday

The Johannesburg High Court was expected to hand down judgement against ten of the 13 Jeppestown massacre accused on Tuesday.

Johannesburg High Court Judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng was expected to hand down judgement against ten of the 13 Jeppestown massacre accused on Tuesday.

Two of the men were found guilty on Monday, while the only female accused, Dineo Maleke (29), was acquitted on all charges against her.

Her lover, Senzo Emmanuel Mweli (26) was found guilty on charges of aggravated robbery relating to the June 2006 robbery at the Honeydew Pick n Pay supermarket, as well as two attempted murder charges.

Nkosinathi Mzamo Mchunu (31) was found guilty of charges including aggravated robbery, attempted murder and several charges of murder.

Four of the murder charges relate to the deaths of police officers who were gunned down during a bloody shoot-out with the robbers at a house in Jeppestown following the robbery.—Sapa
