A bomb scare at the African National Congress's (ANC) headquarters at Luthuli House in Johannesburg on Wednesday morning forced staff members and visitors into the cold. A Mail & Guardian reporter at the scene was informed that evacuees were ordered to go home as the police searched the building. Edna Mamonyane, spokesperson for the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD), told the M&G that “police units have been dispatched to the scene”, adding that “at the moment I can’t give finer details”. She said the JMPD had “received a phone call and, yes, I can confirm it”. At midday the police were still searching the building, but had not yet located a bomb. TOPICS IN THIS ARTICLE
