Malawi court allows Madonna to adopt second child

Malawi's highest court on Friday granted American pop icon Madonna the right to adopt a second child from an orphanage in the country.

Malawi’s highest court on Friday granted American pop icon Madonna the right to adopt a second child from an orphanage in the poor Southern African nation.

Supreme court Chief Justice Lovemore Munro said Madonna was financially stable and could care for three-year-old Chifundo James, whose name translates as “Mercy”.

“We therefore grant the adoption,” he said.—AFP
