Bonitas faces curatorship

Last week the Registrar of Medical Schemes applied to have medical scheme Bonitas placed under curatorship.

Bonitas is the second largest medical scheme after Discovery and has 600 000 members.

The curatorship application relates to financial misconduct of its current principle officer and not to the financial soundness of the scheme itself. According to a press release by the Registrar ‘the beneficiaries of Bonitas are advised not to worry about their scheme.

This curatorship is needed to protect their interests and we expect it to last a short period of time”.
