Reds prop Laurie Weeks was on Thursday confirmed as the first Australian-based signing for the Melbourne Rebels, the 15th club in next year's expanded Super league. The Rebels announced that Weeks, the 2009 Australian Super 14 rookie of the year and widely tipped as a future Wallaby, had signed with the club for the start of the Super 15 season in 2011. The new Melbourne club, to be coached by former Wallaby coach Rod Macqueen, previously announced English flyhalf Danny Cipriani as their first signing. -- AFP TOPICS IN THIS ARTICLE
