Terre’Blanche murder accused back in court

Terre'blanche Murder Accused Back In Court

Police and media gathered outside the Ventersdorp Magistrate’s Court on Thursday ahead of the appearance of Chris Mahlangu, who is accused of killing Afrikaner Weerstandsbeweging (AWB) leader Eugene Terre’Blanche.

His bail application is expected to be wrapped up by the end of the day.

Mahlangu and a 15-year-old boy are accused of murdering Terre’Blanche (69) on his farm on April 3.

The defence and prosecution were at the court by 9am and the Nyala transporting the accused was a short distance outside Ventersdorp.

Defence attorney Puna Moroko said the accused would probably be served with an indictment to appear at a high court.

“Literally speaking, it won’t be moved to the high court, a high court judge will come down here.

“I don’t know why they are not moving it to Potchefstroom. I think they want to impress people.”

Moroko said cross-examination of the investigating officer would get under way on Thursday.

There were no protesters or residents at the court.

The hearing was expected to start at 10am. — Sapa
