A South African broadcaster has extended its rights in sub-Saharan Africa to show the Uefa Champions League, Super Cup and Europa League for another two years.

SuperSport said in a statement on Tuesday it had secured broadcast rights for the 2012/13 and 2014/15 seaons.

“The 2010 Fifa World Cup demonstrated Africans’ immense appetite for world-class football and the Champions League falls into that category,” said Imtiaz Patel, Group CEO of MultiChoice SA.

The rights were acquired following a tender process conducted by Uefa’s marketing agency, TEAM Marketing AG.—Sapa
