The Genée International Ballet Competition for non-professional dancers is presented by the Royal Academy of Dance.

The Genée International Ballet Competition for non-professional dancers is presented by the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and supported by the University of Cape Town School of Dance and Cape Town City Ballet.

Cape Town will host the competition for the first time.

It has been held in Canada, Hong Kong, Greece and Singapore. There will be 37 dancers between the ages of 15 and 19 from the United States, Canada, Wales, Scotland, Israel, Malaysia, China, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Cyprus and Spain. Several South Africans are also competing. The Genée experience includes the community project Sizodanisa—Let’s Dance!
