Fuel price on the up next week

The retail price of all grades of petrol will increase by 23 cents per litre on Wednesday November 2, the department of energy announced on Friday.

The price of 0.05% sulphur diesel and the price of 0.005% sulphur diesel will both go up by 36 cents per litre.

Wholesale paraffin will rise by 41 cents a litre, and the price of illuminating paraffin (SMNRP) will increase by 55 cents per litre.

There will be also be a 34 cents per kilogram hike in the maximum retail price for LPGAS.

During the period under review, the average international product prices of petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin decreased.

The average rand/US dollar exchange rate weakened when compared to the previous period.

The average rand/US dollar exchange rate for the period September 30 to October 27 was 8.0012 compared to 7.5657 during the previous period.

The deterioration of the rand against the US dollar increased the contribution to the basic fuels price on petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin by 33.97c/l, 35.82c/l and 35.58c/l respectively.
