Britain’s Prince Charles arrived in South Africa on Wednesday for a five-day visit which will include touring historic sites and meeting the Zulu King.
The prince landed at the Waterkloof airbase and was received by South Africa’s High Commissioner to Britain Zola Skweyiya and his British counterpart Nicola Brewster.
The prince arrived from the Middle East, where he visited Kuwait to mark its 50th anniversary of independence from Britain and 20 years of liberation from Iraq.
His wife, the Duchess of Cornwall had arrived earlier in South Africa after she skipped the Middle East leg of the trip.
Their visit will include a meeting with King Zwelithini at his residence in KwaZulu Natal, and Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe.
In Cape Town the prince will hold talks on climate change with government and business representatives.
The last time the prince visited South Africa was in 1997. His wife has never visited the country before. — AFP
